the falling garden
Commissioned, designed and flawlessly executed, this installation by the Swiss design team of Steiner and Lenzlinger was sublimely delivered in 2003 for the celebration of the 50th Venice Biennial.
It was housed in the church of San State on the Grand Canal, where visitors to the exhibition would lie at the bottom and experience the myriad wisps of garden botanica as it ever so silently would drift around you...

...came across a lovely boutique recently that produces very warm-looking wool blankets. wouldn't they be just wonderful for the ongoing winter chill during these remaining months of snow, wind and rain? ...with their wonderful muted soft earth tones and generous soft content they seem like they just may do the trick to keep one warm for the rest of this icy winter....

definitely feels like a friday, yes? productive week + new designs carved. yes, you read that right, carved. also managed to leave a nice little carving on the index finger in the process- just workplace liability I suppose. I'll have to report my medical claim to HR - wait, that's me! I do have a few new twists up my sleeve to expand sscg and am super excited to line up all the tasks and share with everyone soon!

the delicate styling and nicely executed photographs of these two pieces by sourfacedesign recently caught my eye as I was appreciating the use of gemstones and colors in their creation. They reminded me actually, of cloudy waters and seaside waves during the wintertime...

status
where have you sailed off to SSC&G? ...your shop is beginning to look bare and we're missing all the new and exciting product updates you promised. Well, if you must know I have been whiling away the hours in the workshop! Several side projects (custom projects, specifically) have kept me busily working and some of the items in the new collection have had to wait a bit. I am also sourcing new textiles and will be traveling some in the next few months to seek out the unique and distinctive. So, thanks for asking and stick around because there will be a shop update soon! Promises, promises... ;D
In the meantime, here are a few snippets of those side projects that have consumed SSCG's daylight hours...
