Tilt Shifter

Have you seen any of these photos?  It's a new method of photo modification or tweaking that can be done on Photoshop on any pictures, really, but the tilt-shift makes a regular sized picture look as if its in miniature.  I don't completely understand the process, but I may try it.  Very cool, and there are a ton of them on the web, if you want research it.  I came across this one via design newz.  And, of course it's a coastal shot, what else would it be on my site?  Ha ! :)

Rainbow

This photo was a integral part of the inspiration for a number of bags that I made.  I love the colors, obviously, but if you look closer, the textures are so interesting, too.  So, I thought I'd post one of the bags that came out of this inspiration.  Don't you think that they complement each other nicely?

Coastal-gami

Came across these origami works of art recently via design newz.  As I am a huge fan of artists, specifically those that work so meticulously with their hands, I find these amusing yet so calculating detailed.  And, to top it all off, they do have a seaside reference which makes me the biggest fan ever.  So far beyond the crane...

Comrades

I love this photograph.  It resonates with the promise of the then industrial revolution and optimism for the future of U.S. made products.  Ladies who sew.  And enjoy it.  I find it to be a nice image.  No one looks like they hate being there, or are in undesirable conditions.  Of course, it's only a picture... and I like to think that it was a positive experience.

Organic

I often refer to organic elements as a major point of inspiration when I am designing a new bag and begin to think about the textural interest and style.  I feel that it is probably one of the main components that makes my designs different from the masses.  It is with that thought that I came across this picture, and at first I was attracted to it because of it's coastal flavor, however, as I looked closer, I became more and more interested in the coloring, in the texture of the seaweed, and finally, the texture of the sand.  Then I realized how closely it resembled a bag I had recently completed.  Sometimes, life imitates art, other times art imitates life.  So simple and organic, often overlooked.  But when it all comes together, it can really be beautiful.

Fer sure

Have you seen this?  It is known as feroshiki, or furoshiki - japanese folding cloth.  It is an instructional chart used for wrapping a number of items from market purchases to dry goods.   Currently popular as it is referenced as an ecological solution to plastic bags - just re-use the feroshiki over and over.  Just follow the chart so that you don't confuse the wrapping of the baby with the wrapping of the potatoes.
