Before and After

The 'before' and 'after' pics remain the most popular requests on the blog, so in my spare time (heh, heh) I thought I would post a couple more for your perusal.  The top photo is just some of the leather hides in the inventory, and then you can see the components in progress and finally, the end result !  These ladies are currently in the Seaside Cloth shoppe, just click through on this link if you would like to see all of the accessories that are available right now.

The slow textile

It's a dye job :)  While working on color samples and the exchange of ink to natural textile ratio absorption, thought you might like to see how the same color is absorbed differently on each textile.  Cotton canvas, linen and natural pima cotton all take this color so uniquely.  Also interesting to note that the results look nothing like the original color in the dye vat, right?
The inquiry is often made 'how long does it take to make a tote / clutch / bag?'  Well, since I utilize and embrace many of the slow textile methods, it seldom takes less than 2 days to design, construct and finish a Seaside Cloth bag.  And thanks to the support of my wonderful customers, I hope to continue to do so for a very long time.  If you go here, you can see everything that is available now in the shoppe.

Life at sea

Inspired by all things nautical and a general obsession with life by the sea, the Blue Cross leather clutch finds its way into the shoppe.  Cognac leather at the bottom and a nubby, textural weave of sea blue and creamy white stripes take center stage any Season.  For extra style points, leather feathers of navy blue and cognac leather help the zip tab open and close swiftly. Back to school
